Workbook 4 assignment question

Hey Andy,

I'm just wondering if we actually have to creat an off court activity e.g. Word search or if we can find some on the internet. There a lot of great resources out there. Please let me know.

Thanks,
Claudia

2nd regrouping

Hi everyone,
We are looking forward to getting into the meat of the course.  I got an email asking what would be tested during the weekend so I thought I would post it to the blog so all of you could see.  There is no formal testing that takes place during this regrouping.

We will have you all present the ball controls to demonstrate and explain the questions that we brought to your attention.  If this is done well there will not be a formal test on this during the final weekend.  We will decide on an individual basis.  We will try to make time to test you on anything that you didn't meet standard on last time for your feeding and demonstrations.  There are no ther tests scheduled.

Please post any further questions to the blog so all can see.

Video assignment

Hi everyone,
You may use any method you like to submit the videos to us.  You can upload them to a file sharing resource, bring them on a flash drive, bring a cd, email them to us, or any other method you can think of to get them submitted.

Best,
Andy, Jean & Scott

Homework resources

Hi Everyone,
Some of you may have been having difficulty finding some of the resources from which you are to take lessons to prepare for the first day.  Please go to the Learn To Play document which can be found on the TPA website.  Take lessons from there to be able to present instead.

Best,
Andy

Tired of taking the same old tennis lessons and hearing the same old tips with same the old frustrating results?

THE GBA IS A MORE INTUITIVE WAY TO LEARN TENNIS. Think of The Game Based Approach more like The Performance Based Approach. Instead of focusing on technique or "the strokes" first and hope you figure out how to use them in a game later, the GBA is the complete opposite. It focuses on getting you to understand how to play the game first and then uses technique as a tool to get you to perform better.

The GBA does not just get people to play "games" and ignore technique. It uses a systematic way of integrating the tactical, physical, mental & technical together. The way tennis is being taught is shifting away from traditional "model" based coaching.

If you're only hearing your coach tell you you're getting better but you're not really sure, get measurable results...find out what the ITF and players around the world already know.. The GBA is the best way to learn tennis.

Coaching Resources #1

Hi all,
We want to bring your attention to some coaching resources with tis being the first.  Please look these over as they can be useful tools in your coaching.  This first one is an excellent coaching resource, and as it is with all the ones that I will post, it is run by a Canadian, Larry Jurovich.  He has worked for Tennis Canada, the LTA (UK federation), the Chinese Tennis Federation, and currently coaches professional players and is building a facility in BC.  He is also a Tennis Canada Course Facilitator and has led Coach 2 & Coach 3 courses.
